This is true however if you do bid less and have a slim chance of being accepted that slim chance may be far greater than you would think. I great likelihood it will be accepted! When bidding for an airline ticket, you may receive a counteroffer. Do not accept the counteroffer. The counteroffer does not include taxes and fees. If you incrementally increase your bid, you will receive an acceptance at an amount lower than the counteroffer. What kind of discount should I expect? The savings at Priceline are real and significant. There is only a 5% chance you will do better on Orbitz or Hotwire. The reason there are links added to the major travel sites are so you can compare prices. By knowing what Travelocity's best price is on a flight you now know how much is too much to bid. You can easily start at 50% off the best price you can find on travel and realistically expect to win.
